Diphtheria, sometimes called the “Strangling Angel”, is a very serious disease. When someone gets diphtheria, they slowly suffocate as the bacterial toxin causes a thick layer of mucous to block the airway. While it may seem quite rare, there are countries in which diphtheria is still at large. It also spreads very easily. Diphtheria, like many other diseases, does not discriminate – anyone can get the disease.
Dato’ Dr Musa Mohd Nordin talks about the importance of preventing the disease and also the vaccines that prevent the disease.
